Israeli-Iraqi-Yemeni musician Dudu Tassa, who opened at Coachella and toured with Radiohead in 2017, is headed to The UC Theatre Taube Family Music Hall on May 2 to celebrate Israel’s milestone birthday with his unique blend of Jewish and Arabic folk-rock. Thanks to the generosity of Taube Philanthropies, all proceeds from the concert will support Federation grantees in Israel.

About Dudu Tassa & The Kuwaitis
Tassa, age 41, comes from a distinguished line of musicians: Daud and Saleh al-Kuwaiti, respectively his grandfather and grand-uncle, were Iraqi Jews celebrated for their compositions — and even performed for royalty — before they were kicked out of Baghdad and settled in Israel in 1951.
Now, the younger Tassa has made a mission out of connecting with and reinterpreting his ancestors’ songs for a modern audience. Already a national sensation in Israel, Tassa is busy introducing his music to an even broader audience — Radiohead personally invited him and his band, the Kuwaitis, to join its North American tour last year. This set the stage for his Coachella set, along with future performances at venues throughout America — including this upcoming one at The UC Theatre.
Celebrating Israel at 70 with Dudu Tassa and the Kuwaitis is presented by the Jewish Federation of the East Bay and made possible with the generous support of Taube Philanthropies. Special thanks to the Consulate General of Israel to the Pacific Northwest.
