On Saturday, October 27, 2018, we witnessed the deadliest act of antisemitism in Jewish North American history at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh.

Now, our focus is on keeping our community safe.

Please help us build a culture of security and preparedness in the Bay Area. Your giving will support Bay Area synagogues and religious communities with small equipment enhancements and organization-specific security training.

Security experts agree that simple, well-established, and consistently implemented safety measures are the most effective at minimizing harm: drills that teach rapid lockdown and evacuation strategies, doors that can be secured in seconds, and other low-cost equipment for communication.

Jean and Sandy Colen have generously offered to match all donations to Federation’s Security Fund up to a total of $50,000.

That means that when you donate by February 22 to Federation’s Security Fund, the Colens will give a contribution of equal value, effectively doubling your impact up to $50,000.

This opportunity ends on February 22! Please, make your donation today.

*Once the funds are raised, we will be working in collaboration with the San Francisco based Jewish Community Foundation and Endowment Fund to grant out the money to synagogues and Jewish organizations based upon their individual needs. For now, our focus is on raising funds. Other questions? Contact Mollie Breger, Director of Marketing and Development, at 510.809.4909 or mollie@jfed.org.

If you prefer to donate by check, please make your check out to “Jewish Federation of the East Bay” and mail it to:
