Welcome to YLD

The Young Leadership Division of the Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay welcomes young adults (21-40ish) and provides opportunities for individuals, partners and families to connect with the Jewish community. Our goal is to strengthen our diverse community by providing social events, engaging in Jewish learning, social action, developing leaders, and continuing the tradition of tzedakah.

Upcoming Events:

Wednesday, February 6, 7 p.m.—First ever YiLD Wednesday! Kick back with other Jews (20ish - 40ish) for a night of programming at different venues throughout the East Bay. Our first YiLD Wednesday will be held at Thalassa on Shattuck in Berkeley. Come grab a drink, play some pool and meet new friends. Sunday, February 10—SUPER SUNDAY is back! Be a part of the largest Federation fundraising event of the year. Join us in calling over 700 East Bay Jews and raising over $600,000! Join the YLD “Pizza and Beer” shift in the evening. Prizes and fun for all! RSVP to tova@jfed.org for more information.

Wednesday, February 27—Private tour and tasting at Scharffen Berger Chocolate Factory for all donors who make a minimum gift of $365 to the 2008 Annual Campaign. Email youngleadership@jfed.org for more information.

March 16-18—Washington 15. Join thousands of Jews from around the country for an inspiring, energizing hands-on conference. Hear world-class leaders speak on critical social and political issues, interact with members of Congress and forge new connections with other young professionals. $500 subsidies available on a first come first serve basis to anyone who gives $365 or more to the 2008 Annual Campaign. A very exciting new initiative that will focus on rebranding our current "Young Leadership Division", creating more outreach opportunities, strengthening engagement, fostering a culture of philanthropy and even the idea of moving into a new location that can house programs for us and the greater young Jewish community.

YLD works to strengthen leadership skills and empower Jewish adults to see themselves in positions of influence in the Federation and greater Jewish community through:

- Family Mission to Israel, Summer 2008

Tzedakah

Each year, YLD participates in supporting the Jewish community Federation’s annual campaign. YLD donors give back and connect through the following initiatives:
- Ben-Gurion Society (BGS)
- Super Sunday and phone-a-thons
- Campaign events
- Dollar-a-day campaign
