Legacy Giving

The Federation and Foundation works on behalf of the entire community to ensure that our precious heritage and shared legacy is passed onto future generations.

If you have been giving to the Federation year after year, a legacy gift — such as a charitable bequest in your will, trust or retirement plan, will let you be there for future generations after you are gone.

Your bequest will be added to permanent endowments, creating a permanent source of funding to address the needs and priorities of every succeeding generation.

You don’t have to be wealthy. You can designate a small percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your retirement plan. There is no minimum or maximum gift amount; all gifts are appreciated and recognized. Gifts of $100,000 or more establish separate funds named for you or a loved one.

There are many ways to give but a simple bequest is the most common.

Bequest language*

To leave an unrestricted Federation bequest, use the following language in your estate documents:

To The Jewish Federation of the East Bay, Oakland, California, tax payer identification number 94-1156560, I give [         % of the remainder of my estate / the sum of $         ].

To permanently benefit the Federation's Annual Campaign:

To The Jewish Federation of the East Bay, Oakland, California, tax payer identification number 94-1156560, I give [         % of the remainder of my estate / the sum of $         ] to be added to the Permanent Annual Campaign Endowment.

Please tell us!

If you haven’t told us about your legacy gift, please let us know. We would like to thank you during your lifetime for your generosity and vision.

You will be invited to join our Legacy Society, which honors those who have planned a legacy gift to the Federation and Foundation.

Legacy Society members can write a page in the Endowment Book of Life, a permanent record of our community’s values, stories, and hopes for the future.
